While every family may not be looking for baby cribs for the nursery, it is important to begin our discussion of home furniture with the nursery and with the first baby crib.
Much has been made about the safety of baby cribs and baby bedding (mattresses, bedding, etc.) in the past couple of years. While it is every new mother’s dream to have the perfect nursery setting when she brings home the new baby, the first consideration when purchasing the baby crib is the safety of the crib itself. Meeting all government standards for safety is essential. For that reason, if no other, it is suggested that expectant parents shop for cribs that meet all safety specs.
For safety and as a good investment a convertible baby crib is suggested. It will last beyond the baby’s first year and until the parents are ready to invest in a new bedroom suite for the youngster.
There are plenty of baby crib styles available by reliable companies that should meet any new mother’s design expectations. Cick here to see all the conversions from a single baby crib.

Rules and standards are constantly being updated by the government and by manufacturers to protect our newborns. Buying a used crib is not always a good idea — unless all standards are met.
While I am a big fan of purchasing used furniture or shopping yard sales and thrift stores for great bargains, I must say that baby cribs are the one item that I would never, ever, never purchase used. As a grandmother who adores her grandchildren, I can say quite emphatically that the purchase of a crib for the newborn is not the time for scrimping. The baby’s safety should always be the first concern.
